Interesting places to hang out in South Goa

Goa is known for its tourism industry and while there are other interesting tourist destinations in the country, Goa is definitely the most popular. It appeals to not just domestic tourists from different parts of India but also international tourists from different corners of the globe. Since the state has the entire western border touching the sea shore, that gives Goa a lot of beaches that it can brag about. In addition to the southern parts of the state, the north is also a major tourist attraction.

There are a lot of tourist spots that tourists can hang out at, some well known, others, not so much. Some of the popular spots that tourists can choose to hang out at in South Goa are:

The Three Kings Chapel

The chapel on the hill provides an amazing view of miles and miles of trees and other structures around the place. It is not ideal to head to a chapel for a picnic but it does make a good spot to grab the view and probably attend a mass or head down to the beach for an afternoon lunch.

Hollant beach

During the week, this not-so-popular beach is quite isolated and allows tourists the opportunity to have some alone time. However, on the weekend, people storm the beach from every side and the crowds might be a little off-putting.

Chocolate room

Although there are a bunch of chocolate rooms throughout Goa, dessert lovers head to the two that are in Margao. The chocolate room is the best place to hang out for people who love chocolate and are interested in trying the different combinations that the chefs can work on using chocolate.

Bondla wildlife sanctuary

Although it doesn’t compete with zoos in the middle east or even with the collection of animals that Pablo Escobar had, it does have a certain charm to it. The zoo is located in Usgao and does brag about some rare, and other not-so-rare animals.

Dudhsagar waterfalls

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state, the Dudhsagar gets its name from the waters that are always flowing and white, representing milk. Tourists interested in getting up close and personal with the waters would have to trek for some distance before they wet their feet. There are jeeps offered by the team managing trekking in the area, however, the walk through the jungles of Sanguem have a certain charm of their own.

Bigfoot

Bigfoot in Loutolim allows people to see the life that the Portuguese left behind when they left Goa almost 60 years back. The museum showcases the different types of furniture, and general accessories from around houses left behind at the time of the Portuguese.

Vasco docks

The port that is still currently being used has been around since the days of the Portuguese. Construction began in 1624 to put up this massive port. The port was responsible for a lot of the development that took place in the state since then. It was recently used for the transport of iron ore, back when mining was prevailing in Goa.

South Goa is not limited to just these activities and they have a couple more activities that tourists can partake in.
